Ramon rocks!

Ramon Compagnoni is the new Italian air guitar champion. He beat nine worthy opponents in a great performance with high notes given by the jury.

The audience in the north of Italy was presented a super show. The ten finalists, all of them Southtyroleans, gave their best during the five qualifying contests. The winner Ramon came on stage with a 70ies outfit, rocking the stage since the first tune.

The performance was the winning element for the candidates. All the finalists played on their imaginary guitars in a way to surprise and impress many a professional pro guitarist in the audience and in the jury, who had a hard job giving marks. More than once some of them assigned the maximum of points, and the winner Ramon Compagnoni got the top score from all of them beating Stefan Gantioler and Manuel Schweigkofler by a narrow margin.

The competition consisted of two rounds. In the first round the finalists could perform to a chosen song. In the second round a song was assigned by drawing lots. The jury could choose between 4 and 6 points each, the winning performer after two rounds won the competition.

The Italian champion Ramon was given an inflatable mini toyplane as symbol for the flight to Finland where the air guitar world championship will take place at the beginning of September. Ramon Compagnoni will represent Italy there and he will try to become the air guitar world champion.

Christian Steinhauser made it: he is the first Italian air guitar champion. He beat eight worthy opponents in a great performance with the maximum of 30 points after the second round. “I’ve always believed in becoming the Italian air guitar – champion” he says after his triumph.

The audience in the north of Italy was presented a super show. The nine finalists, all of them Southtyroleans, gave their best during the four qualifying contests. The winner Christian came on stage with a monk’s habit, which he tore off his body to reveal the shorts in AC/DC style. Manuel, another finalist, appeared as a Stone Age man and in the second round in a bathing suit. As an additional effect he was driven on stage by the legendary “Hummer” cult-car. Edith and Elmar were dressed as real rockers and Florian came on stage as a monkey. Guenther rocked in a flower-power dress, his sister Anita in a ski suit.

After the presentation ceremony everybody celebrated and the Italian champion surprised the audience with a traditional alpine dance together with his friends from the “Schuhplattler group Prettau”, a dance performed in leather shorts with braces consisting of slaps on thighs, calves and cheeks and some occasional bottom-kicks.

The event was organised by the air guitar association Italy.
